As you may know, the New York Power Authority (NYPA), New York State Canal Corporation (NYSCC) and its engineering partners are in the early stages of developing a rehabilitation project for the Madison Reservoir Dam (also known as Lake Moraine Dam) in Madison County. This critical project will help to ensure that the dam, which was constructed in 1836, continues operating well into the future.

As part of the design process, NYSCC is conducting a survey to better understand how the lake is used by those who live around it and the surrounding community. The survey responses will provide valuable information as we consider potential mitigation for community impacts during construction. The survey can be found here: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MadisonReservoirDam

Again, the project is in the early stages of the design process and additional information and further project details will be shared as they become available.

The project will also be subject to environmental review before commencing construction.

Hard copies will be available at:

  1. Madison Town Office, 7358 State Route 20, Madison

  2. Hamilton Village Office, 3 Broad Street, Hamilton

  3. Martha Young, 7 Payne Street, Hamilton

should you wish to fill out a hard copy. Additionally, you can contact Jackie Schillinger (contact information below), if you’d like a paper survey mailed to your place of residence.

Response Deadline: February 24, 2024
